Heidi Klum was born in Bergisch Gladbach Germany on June 1st, 1973. Erna, her mother was a stylist. Gunther Kum worked as an executive for the cosmetics industry. Heidi's dad was previously a production supervisor for the 4711 company. Her birthplace Bergisch Gladbach, a small city with about 100,000 people situated six miles away from Cologne was the place where she was raised. German-American ex fashion model and now television host, businesswoman and designer. Karin, a then 18 year old student, got her involved in the German talent show called Model 92. The German women's magazine Petra was the sponsor of this show, which was part of Thomas Gottschalk's talk show. Klum competed against more than 25,000 contestants across Germany and Europe until she was one of three semifinalists. In April of 1992, she was awarded the highest prize of $300,000.
